The EU might “respond swiftly and decisively” in response to what it deems “unjustified” travel bans issued by the US against five European individuals working on combating digital hatred and disinformation, a European Commission spokesperson stated.

EU Officials Condemn US Move as ‘Coercion’

Officials from Europe including Emmanuel Macron accused the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, following the travel bans were placed on figures who have been central to campaigns to introduce legislation regulating American tech companies.

“For too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded organised efforts to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” stated a senior US official online. “This government will no longer tolerate these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”
