Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
